Phu Quy is an island with an area of 16.5 km², located off the coast of South Central Coast, belonging to Phu Quy island district, Binh Thuan province. From Kega Lighthouse Resort you go about 25km to Phan Thiet, then, from Phan Thiet port continue to take the boat to move across about 56 nautical miles. If traveling by high speed boat, it only takes you 3 hours to reach the island. Or if you choose to go by normal boat, you may take 6-7 hours for this crossing.
Normally, boats to Phu Quy island are available daily at Phan Thiet port, however, depending on the weather and the tide or the rough seas, the schedule can be changed accordingly. In the morning, there is a boat to the island at 8 am and 11am at noon. The best time that you should consider for visiting Phu Quy island is from March to May.

Phu Quy has nearly 30 cultural relics with many different types of beliefs. However, the most prominent is Van An Thanh, located in Trieu Duong village, Tam Thanh commune, built in 1781 and is a "museum" of whales on the island. According to the local people, the whale, also known as Ong, has been helping the fishermen and boats many times when they were in trouble. There are many fishermen here who have been rescued by Ong fish and still live on the island, and most of the people in the island have respect for Ong fish.
When Ong fish died and washed ashore on Phu Quy coast, it was solemnly held by the local people and every year there was Nghinh Ong festival. Visiting the Ong Hai Nam exhibit at Van An Thanh you will have the opportunity to see the whale skeleton which has a length nearly 20m, this is also one of the largest whale skeleton in Vietnam.
The most famous dish of the island is Spanner Crab. This type of crab is big and heavy, about 500g - 1kg / crab. At first glance, it looks like a giant spider, with its fluffy fur. Due to the rarity and nourishment of this dish, since ancient times, Spanner Crab has been chosen as the dish to offered to the King.
